Cingular is one of the only GSM providers in the USA. This is great news!
Yeah, one of the only ones besides T-Mobile, AllTel, and AT&T Wireless (who they bought out).

This has NOTHING to do with environmentalism, president Bush, or freedom of speech. It has to do with a the organizers of a privately held event kicking out an attendee for violating the terms it had set.
Not quite. This is one attendee that proved to be troublemaker in the past, who made the mistake of not following the terms to the tiniest detail, thereby giving the organisers an excuse for kicking them out. If lets say NVidia or ATI were showing graphics cards that are of interest to Macintosh users, and they were violating the terms of the organizers in the same way, nothing would happen at all.
That said, I wouldn't have let them in in the first place. It seems that their attack against Apple was mostly caused by Apple not making any actual promises about environmental issues - Greenpeace measured companies mostly by the amount of promises they made, and Apple is more into action.

So if Apple losses can they just go and make a really, really crummy, crash prone application that sells MP3, that are encoded really poorly, and is just the most absolutely worst garbage ever and call it, "Da Amazon MP3 and AppStore for Windows and Office" ?
While I do think Apple's TM should be upheld, I do wish they would change the name themselves.

from what ive read the difference between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo isnt much
its not like P4 and Core 2 Duo
the Core 2 Duo are -10-15% faster at the same clock speed but use more power At the same clock speed they use about the same amount of power but have improved performance AND they support x86-64, have much improved SIMD hardware (bringing SSE much closer to AltiVec in terms of performance per clock) and double the L2 cache. All around this is a better CPU.
...however for them to truly shine you will want to pair them with Intel's new mobile chipset that should be out early next year (if not sooner).

Yeah Apple has never done that.
Except for NeXT, Motion, Final Cut Pro, Color, Aperture, the list goes on...
The post I was replying to said that Samsung created. They haven't created anything except groceries as far as I can tell. Apple, though they have bought a lot, have created far more than they have bought out.
That, and, well, they keep their name pretty straightforward abroad. For some reason, people in America and Europe think Samsung are some sort of tech company. They are a grocery company that branched into sugar, later into construction, and finally, into tech and cars.
They create jobs here in Korea, yes, but at the same time, they vacuum the market: most people make a pittance here and Samsung have stopped up the job market. If you don't work for them, you are doomed to be a second class citizen. At the same time, you put out products that break in the home country so that abroad they perform well. Samsung are leeches that bleed Korea just to gain international recognition. Everything in our house is Samsung and everything has broken.
It was bought for us and we had no choice. I'd rather anything else, but in Korea, there isn't much you can choose from. It is either Samsung or Hyundai, or lesser companies like LG.
Again, I don't like the idea of forced IP tech, but if it puts geriatric barbarians like Samsung down a bit, I'm happy with that. If Apple get hit in the process, that is too bad, but at this level, someone is bound to stumble.

I wondering how many people are now going to put off buying a Mac Pro and wait for a faster Kentsfield
The Mac Pros a fast as it is now, Kentsfield would smash the previous benchmarks but a fair margin.

I had no trouble getting an unlock code from Cingular for a SLVR I bought from them. Here's pix I just took showing it in use back home on the Telstra network.
I ended up doing the reverse. I bought a SLVR in China and brought it back to the USA. It's so nice not to have to be on any ****ing "contract". (Sorry, I just really hate the state of the cellphone market in the USA.)
I just want WiFi VoIP phones to come along and wipe out the whole market...I think that will have to wait for WiMax rollouts nationwide, though.

I think we'll see a transition from iTunes to iMedia.
The iMedia Store (TV Shows, Music, Audiobooks, Movies). The iMedia Player (the "true" video ipod). airMedia (wireless video/audio streaming device).
While what you suggest makes some sense ... Apple has invested way too much in building the "iTunes" brand to simply drop it now. For the same reason I doubt we'll see the iMac changing to "mac" or iPod changing to "Pod" ... they're here to stay for now.
An alternative is the make Quicktime a full-fledged media player and browser to support the TV shows, movies and movie store to keep it separate from iTunes.

I think that Apple doesn't have resources for decent quality review process.
App store works in a such way, that all underdog app developers want to update their apps as often as possible. A new update brings an app to the first page in its category, sorted by date (for a day or 2)
Apple does not have guts or desire to charge for reviews, and all this mess goes on. They "review" apps very formally, and I suspect that this is outsourced to India.
If Apple wants to make this right, they should include 10 or 20 reviews into the annual $100 developer fee, and charge $20-$50 for each additional review. That would greatly reduce the number of updates, and increase the quality of reviews.
I myself have several apps in the appstore, and my apps and updates were also rejected many times for formal reasons, which were totally stupid in the context of my apps.
And what's also funny, Apple suddenly rejected my critical update with a bug fix because of a piece of graphic that already was in my app for 6 months :-)

Honestly, do you think someone who is Drunk is going to be checking the app for the checkpoints?
Eh, yes.
There is more than one level of being drunk you know? Not everyone stumbles out of the pub and falls over. Those are the guys who are the least of the problem since they will be passed out before they can start the car.
It's those that are arrogant enough to believe that even though they've been drinking more than the limit they can still drive just fine that are the problem. They are the people who can also send text messages they regret in the morning and take camera photos of their ass.
Just because someone has been drinking it doesn't mean they can't fumble through a phone menu; but nobody gets killed by a poorly written text message.
Eh, yes.

What about "Burger Store" ?
Let's say you have a conversation with a friend like this "I'd really like a burger right now. " "Ok, where shall we go? " "To the nearest xxx, of course!". Which of these could you imagine saying without your friend thinking you are weird:
Burger King
Mc Donald's
burger place
burger store.

im all for being green, but i cant stand what greenpeace stands for and there approach on getting people to be treehuggers. your not going to survive being a 100% treehugger in this world today. so i don't understand greenpeace. yea people can be less poluting (like burning trash and stuff) but stuff we cant help (farting) they are getting as bad as the animal rights group, they will let a human die to save a animal. im not going to wreck my car to keep from hitting a animal.
like what was said before you cant make a computer out of wood and grass. and no im not talking about the case im talking about the internal's. and even tho the case was made by wood people like greenpeace would still complain cause it killed a tree to make

Hmm and my opinion of Ivy League schools goes down more.
Shows that many who go in and come out of there are unethical. Explains why so much wrong with the country because it is lead by the unethical people.
It's not brains that get you into ivy league schools, it's money. See George W Bush, and if our friend Don here gets into Harvard, I think he will be another example of that.
Of course, I don't believe for a second that Don has the money or connections to get into Harvard. I think he's some poor lonely kid sitting in his parents' basement acting like Mr. Tough Guy on the internet because it makes him feel like a better person, when in reality, it doesn't.

They seem pointless if you're already drunk to be able to use it.

That is the funny thing I was thinking about either going Linux (just so I don't need to listen to my mac wife tease me about my conversion to the light.) But if I want something that as you say "Just works" why go linux, I might fool around with that by setting my Dell up to dual boot, just upgraded it to 300 GB internal drive so plenty of space.
I had also thought of grabbing a netbook, and making a hackintosh, but that isn't reliable or realistic for daily computing needs either.
But I must say the thing that was perhaps the most instrumental in my thinking of going mac, was android.
I wanted a phone that just worked and was looking at iPhone vs Android. In my opinion the iPhone is a more reliable platform, due to the fragmentation of droid. Too many manufacturers, with their own independent specs, and a separate entity creating the software.
If you extrapolate the fragmentation of droid argument, it is an equally valid argument against windows.
Apple is in my opinion the Volvo of the computer world. And at this point, working full time, while also taking night classes and working on an undergrad degree, a volvo is what I need.
On a side note, I just went to the apple store, and looked at the 27" imacs....
Ok, maybe I just should get one of those when they refresh. I thought my wife had the 27", but she must actually have the 24"
Those 27" ones are very pretty. More space than I have on the 2 screens I have now combined. I could just use my Ipad 2 when I get one as a 2nd remote screen and call it a day. Damn they look nice.
I think that is what my experience is turning into. Just swap for a iphone 4 and not caring as much about quad core.
If you want to experiment with Linux I would say try Ubuntu or OpenSUSE 11.4 (just released). I liked the Linux desktop a lot, but I like Mac better due to stability of a *NIX system and its polished GUI over Linux. My server choice is still Linux but my desktop is Mac.
The 27" iMacs are great. That was my first Mac ( October 2009). Mine is only a C2D and a lot of Apple haters here like to point out how inferior my processor is compared to similar priced Dells and HP's. But I am here to tell you that the C2D 27" iMac has been the best performing computer I have ever owned. And I have had Dell, HP, IBM, Compaq, VAIO notebooks and desktops. I have a Windows XP virtual machine on my Mac because I support a client that still uses a legacy Access application. XP runs better as a VM on my Mac than it ever did as a physical machine on my last C2D Dell boxes - LOL.
I have had iPhone since it debuted in 2007. Best phone by far. Definitely wait for the refresh on the iMac and probably iPhone too (iPhone 5 due out soon).
I've been told "Once you go Mac you don't go back!"
Judging from my experience with my iPhone 3GS making me wanting to get an iMac 27" inch Quad Core I may agree.
Its been true for me. ;)
