    Hmm... Cinema displays also got a bump.

    20" ACD
    Brightness: 250 cd/m2 -> 300 cd/m2
    Contrast Ratio: 400:1 -> 700:1

    23" ACD
    Brightness: 270 cd/m2 -> 400 cd/m2
    Contrast Ratio: 400:1 -> 700:1
    Nice find, thanks. I was hoping they'd update the displays. Now to see when my local Apple Store will have them in stock :p

    The answer is 288.

    Anyone with a decent education is taught B.E.D.M.A.S not PEDMAS.

    Brackets.Exponents. Division.Addition/Subtraction in that order!

    /End thread.

    I was taught BODMAS (Brackets, order ...) when I was about 10. Then you never use it again so long as people learn to write maths equations properly.

    are we still debating over this?

    if we stay to basic math, it depends on how you read the / sign

    if it only refers to the immediately following expression then you'd have
    (48/2)*(9+3)=288

    if it refers to everything following, then you'd have
    48/[2*(9+3)]=2

    it is poorly written (or more likely purposely ambiguously written), but in such cases the left-to-right rule should prevail, making it 288. on the other hand, square brackets are way cooler than round brackets, making 2 the cool answer.

    if we move to postadvanced math however, it is clear that "/" separates two expressions: 48 and 2(9+3);
    - as someone already mentioned above, absence of the operator implies multiplication, so 48=4*8. now, everyone knows that by the reciprocal inversity properties multiplication is the opposite of division, therefore 4 multiplied by 8 must be equal to 8 divided by 4, which is most obviously 2 (on the left part of the expression);
    - now to the right part. this is easy. Ignoring the round bracket (which as mentioned are uncool), you have 2*9+3, which gives you a very straightforward 21;
    - so now we have 2/21, which as demonstrated above is equal to 21*2, which is (i hope no one disagrees on this) 42.

    so please now stop with your earthlingy bickering: the answer is always 42. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Actually every weekend in Oz is about eating (BBQ) drinking (VB) and watching football (actualy... rugby, aussie rules, and cricket)

    (i must say that i do like american football)

    :D so you could say that we celebrate thxgiving 52 times per year

    Actually you were missinformed.
    Thanksgiving is about putting up with the rest of your family (in-laws) just for one night so you can borrow money from them (father-in-law) the rest of the year.:D

    The other 51 weeks are for exactly what you said, and waiting 'till next tuesday...:D

    I for one can't sleep until monday. It's like Disneyland but can be delivered to my door... and watched on the web. Whoa... I better put this Kool-aid back... I may hurt myself with excitment. Is that a condition?
    Like Meromonia, or Woodcrestilization of the the 'puter?:D

    Lets face it: The intel transition was NOT painful. Most PowerPC apps that still exist, will run fine on snow leopard, and by now, every app still being maintained has been recompiled for intel CPUs. That really isn't so hard to do so long as all the libraries your app needs to run supports the architecture you're trying to compile in... Just a small settings change. Assuming you don't use assembler code, but nobody with dreams of porting their app uses assembler code, so... Anywho, if apple did make this transition, it wouldn't be as painful as you people seem to think it would be. PowerPC apps run quite well via rosetta.

    I'm not sure I want to take *any* of your suggestions, seeing how your sole goal is to lead us to hell.

    As for the separate groups moving through rooms, I don't see how the larger group can enter one room, then proceed into another room without setting off a trap before tail-end charlie follows along to explore the room. Are you assuming that constant "moving" turns keeps one from falling into a trap?

    I'm a bit confused :confused::confused: It's easy to be confused when your swill serving wench of a wife won't even make you a fookin sammich for gawds sake!

    Thats just it. DPs messed up, unless Ive totally misread the rules. If you dont explore the room, you set off the trap. This is why I couldnt figure out this splitting and speeding things up junk.

    " While I'm sure if it is true..."

    it is true, i saw a add for it in a magazine. it gave the website: www.iphone.org,
    but when i typed that in, all it gave me was the apple website with the .org URL. and its not a flip phone. its made by Sony Ericson. I believe this is why an Apple logo showed up on that one thing Sony was showing.

    i saw the real one on the back pages of a "MacBook" magazine. would have bought it, but it was $30.http://www.ipodnoticias.com/uploaded_images/iphone-701958.jpg
    it was this add

    iphone.org isn't owned by Apple, therefore, Someone who wanted to fool people and couldn't afford to pay for a .com name could have easily bought this name and just directed it to apple.com.

    Just a simple redirection people...

    to really stay ahead of the market Apple will need to:

    add a 4" screen
    keep the same form factor
    add the dual core A5 processor
    update the GPU to something similar (but most likely not as powerful) as in the iPad 2
    while keeping the same or possibly even improving the battery life
    add a 64GB version
    (possible 8 MP backlit CMOS sensor camera along side possible 1080p recording since the iPad can now output in full 1080p through HDMI)

    Since it sounds like Apple is going to make us wait till September anything less than this rather reasonable list would be a major letdown while allowing the competition more time to get caught up.

    What Eric like posting my pics of my son up on a page yet not wanting the freakin' world to see? Or how about my list of friends exposed to the world with the automatic opt in of Google Buzz (http://www.businessinsider.com/warning-google-buzz-has-a-huge-privacy-flaw-2010-2)

    Why couldnt you let it slide? Assuming you dont like people imposing their beliefs on you, why would you impose yours on others? I think theres a word for that.

    Well considering less than 15% of Japanese are religious at all, you have to wonder who benefits from the prayers. Just the 15% who believe in that stuff? All of them? The person doing the praying? Things that make you go "hmmmm".

    I thought Android was a terrible OS, but I am still extremely impressed that iOS is where it is. Considering a lot of manufactures are using Android now, this is still pretty impressive iOS is able to be the second from the top on three devices iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, although the report does state mobile phone usage so it might just include the iPhone and not the other two i mentioned

    You do realize that this graph only shows the heavily subsidized phone market where an android phone can be had for free with a 2 year contract. When all iOS devices are considered, android is nowhere close.

    I think we will see the upgrade the Tuesday after they have enough supply to meet the demand. These laptops are selling great and they don't want to have to interrupt the supply. I think this is especially true at the stores.

    Are they really selling that great??
    Is there anyway to know??

    I wonder how much people is waiting for the Merom MBP's.
    I mean, in general like a couple o guys said here the ones available today are great. But I use Final Cut Pro ALOT, and I'm sure the 64bit will be VERY useful on that. So for me is worth the wait... as for alot of other Final Cut, Logic Pro, Aperture users...

    I'm quite curious about those MBP sales... :rolleyes:

    So someone forced you to read *and* comment on a story titled clearly "Motorola Xoom Tablet Sales: ..." ? Or was that not enough of a clue ?

    My point was not that I don't want to see stories about Android devices on a Apple-centric site, or hear valid arguments for both sides, because then I truly would be closed-minded as some may believe.
    I love discussing the pros and cons of different technological devices with others who's opinions may differ from my own. However, is it too much to ask that rabid, Android proselytizers, refrain from flooding a forum with baseless, biased, bs in order to "put us in our place" or preach the gospel of Andriod?

    The same goes for Apple fanatics trolling on Android sites. If you can't put aside your ridiculous prejudices when discussing things, you ain't helpin' the cause, if you know what I mean...on either side.

    I agree. If theres no iPhone in that mean Android wins the smartphone market for the year. Apple would also lose many of the customers to Android whose contracts are up in the summer and they would be locked into 2 year deals with their droids meaning no iPhone in 2012 for them either.

    Most phone consumers do not get a new phone on the day their contracts expire. That's yet another geek misconception about how the world works.

    I'd be shocked if Apple loses "many" of their customers to Android in 2011. Why on earth would they switch when they already have an iPhone that they love?

    NEWS:
    November 23, 2006 CNN
    NEW YORK (AP) -- Cell phone owners will be allowed to break software locks on their handsets in order to use them with competing carriers under new copyright rules announced Wednesday.

    Given the above news, NO cellphone company may soon be subsidizing ANY phones.

    All it says is that cellphone owners can break the locks. It doesn't say cellphone operators have to help them. It also refers to specific instances where the software itself has to be modified to unlock a phone. It is already legal, because it's not a copyright violation, to unlock, for example, Nokia phones, whose locking code is actually algorithmically generated and therefore requires no copyright violation to use.

    Truth is, most countries have no laws against breaking SP locks, and many countries, notably most in Europe, have laws forcing operators to unlock phones on demand. And yet most countries still have operators that sell subsidized phones in exchange for contracts. SP locks are there not so much because the phone is subsidized so much as to help enforce the contract, and reduce churn by making it more expensive to switch carrier.

    So no, this change will make no difference as far as subsidized handsets go.

    No. Re-read the three sentences he typed. He said that Apple is not tracking anyone. That infers that the database of locations is not being used to track a users location.

    No, he said "the info circulating". "THE" info includes the info about the database.

I got the this browser is not supported on my iphone when going to the cloud player, i clicked on continue anyway or whatever it was... and i was able to play my album on my iphone. the upload music files link is grayed out but i can still listen to the album. can't confirm playback of files that have been uploaded to the cloud but purchased from amazon and stored in cloud seems to work on iphone :)

    Edit: I am using safari... I am also jailbroken so I don't know if there is any hidden difference?

    What, precisely, did Samsung blatantly "rip off" from Apple?

    Perhaps you didn't read the first sentence of the very comment you quoted, which clearly stated "industrial design" and "user interface," neither of which has anything to do with any of the hardware specifications you brought up.

    Technically, they should sue every PC manufacturer on Earth for every ounce of silicon ever produced, because, after all, Apple did invent the personal computer.

    Strawman fails.
